Spatial and temporal variations of dissolved CO2, CH4 and N2O in Lakes Edward and George (East Africa)

چکیده

We report dissolved CO2, CH4 and N2O concentrations in two large East African lakes, Edward (surface area 2,325 km2, average depth of 37 m) George 273 2 m). Lake showed modest seasonal spatial variations, lower partial pressure CO2 (pCO2) (26 ± 16 ppm, mean standard deviation), (234 208 nmol/L) saturation levels (%N2O) (80 9 %) than (404 145 357 483 nmol/L, 139 222 %). Surface waters both lakes were over-saturated CH4, was under-saturated while slightly CO2. This difference related to higher phytoplankton biomass Edward, with chlorophyll-a 177 125 18 25 µg/L, respectively. Permanent high cyanobacterial led uniform concentrations. In surface variations pCO2, bottom depth, locally (in particular Katwe Bay) also the inputs water from via Kazinga Channel, a 40-km natural channel connecting lakes. Short-term mixing events storms increased content waters, for N2O. indicates that response can create ‘hot moments’ emissions atmosphere tropical given weaker vertical density gradients compared latitude systems.

patterns and variations in native and non-native interlanguage pragmatic rating: effects of rater training, intercultural proficiency, and self-assessment

although there are studies on pragmatic assessment, to date, literature has been almost silent about native and non-native english raters’ criteria for the assessment of efl learners’ pragmatic performance. focusing on this topic, this study pursued four purposes. the first one was to find criteria for rating the speech acts of apology and refusal in l2 by native and non-native english teachers...

Effect of Assessment Scale on Spatial and Temporal Variations in CH4, CO2, and N2O Fluxes in a Forested Wetland

Emissions of methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2), and nitrous oxide (N2O) from a forested watershed (160 ha) in South Carolina, USA, were estimated with a spatially explicit watershed-scale modeling framework that utilizes the spatial variations in physical and biogeochemical characteristics across watersheds. The target watershed (WS80) consisting of wetland (23%) and upland (77%) was divided ...

Spatial Variability of CO2, CH4, and N2O Fluxes during Midsummer in the Steppe of Northern China

Spatial variability is a major source of uncertainty in estimating the fluxes of greenhouse gases between steppe and atmosphere. The fluxes of CO2, CH4, and N2O were carried out between 08:00 and 10:00 h. of the following day during the midsummer period from a transect (area: 5.25×10 ha) in the semiarid steppe of northern China, using the dark static chamber technique and gas chromatography. Tw...
